Dar es Salaam. Police were forced to fire into the air to scare away traders who had blocked a road at Mwenge market after authorities prohibited vehicles from parking in the area.
Talking to this paper at the area, one of the traders, Mr Musa Godwin, police arrived at the market at 6am after being informed that traders were protesting.
He said traders decided to protest because most of their customers come with cars.
“Blocking people from parking their vehicles here will drastically affect our business,” he said.
Reports indicate that some leaders from the market have been taken by police prompting the businessmen to close their activities pending release of their leaders.
