Dar es Salaam. Mainland Premier League champions Young Africans SC (Yanga) have taken another major step in strengthening their squad by signing defensive midfielder Abdulnasir Abdallah, popularly known as Casemiro, on a three-year contract.
The 20-year-old midfield anchorman joins the Jangwani Street giants from Zanzibar Premier League side Mlandege FC, following a standout 2024/2025 season where he played a crucial role in helping his team secure the league title.

His arrival marks Yanga’s third signing of the current transfer window. He joins Moussa Balla Conte, a fellow defensive midfielder from Tunisia's CS Sfaxien, and Offen Chikola, a promising winger from Tabora United.
Yanga’s leadership traveled all the way to Zanzibar to finalize the deal, underlining their commitment to scouting and investing in regional talent.
The club officially unveiled Casemiro on Tuesday, July 23, 2025, during a press event at their headquarters.
Casemiro’s signing is seen as a strategic move by Yanga as they look to build on their phenomenal run during the 2024/2025 season, where they won five major titles, including defending the Mainland Premier League and the Federation Cup.
The club's technical bench sees him as a player who will add defensive stability and depth to the midfield, especially as they prepare to compete both domestically and in CAF Champions league matches.
In addition to Casemiro, Yanga are reportedly in the final stages of signing Congolese striker Andy Boyeli, who currently plays for South African Premier Division outfit Sekhukhune United.
The potential arrival of Boyeli would bolster the club’s attacking options and increase their firepower as they prepare for the new season.
Yanga's aggressive transfer strategy underscores their ambition to retain domestic dominance while aiming for a deeper run in CAF Champions League competitions. Club insiders hint that more signings are on the way as Yanga look to fine-tune their squad ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign.
With pre-season training already underway and expectations running high, Yanga fans are buzzing with optimism. The management’s proactive approach in the transfer market reflects their desire to ensure the club stays ahead of rivals and competes with the best on the continent.
As the clock ticks toward the start of the new season, all eyes will be on how Yanga’s new signings blend into the team — and whether this refreshed squad can deliver yet another historic campaign.
