Babati. Manyara Regional Commissioner Alexander Mnyeti has cautioned Hanang District Commissioner Joseph Mkirikiti against failing to properly distribute business identity cards to petty traders.

Of the five districts of the region, Hanang has the lowest number of identity cards distributed to small-scale traders.

Every district was provided with 5,000 business identity cards.

Speaking Tuesday, on February 12, 2019, in Babati, Mr Mnyeti gave Mr Mkirikiti two weeks to properly supervise the distribution of the previous 5,000 and new 6,619 identity cards presented to him to be given to petty traders.

Mr Mnyeti has been saddened by Mr Mkirikiti’s statement that Hanang does not have many petty traders.

That contradicted a previous report of the district administration that it had “enough petty traders”.

"As the Manyara regional commissioner, I give you two weeks to distribute the business IDs. If you fail to do so, you should write a letter to explain on your failure to implement the national exercise," said Mr Mnyeti.

He directed divisional officers, ward, village executives and other public servants to ensure the success of the distribution if the IDs.

Mr Mkirikiti has admitted that the distribution of the IDs was going on slowly in his district.

However, he promised to reposition the administration for the success of the programme.
