Tanzania: President Magufuli grants free medical treatment to defiled child in Mbeya

Mbeya. President John Magufuli has granted free medical treatment to a nine year old young child who was, reportedly, defiled by a 55 year old man in Mbeya region.
Addressing a public rally in Chunya District in Mbeya Region on Saturday, April 27 also instructed Police Commanders in Mbeya and Songwe Regions to closely follow up on all defilement cases and protect the victims' families.
The man who defiled the nine year old has already been sentenced to life in jail.
The President heaped praise Magistrate Michael Mteite of Mbeya Resident Magistrate Court who convicted the offender.
"I congratulate Magistrate Mteite for handling the case well,” said President Magufuli.
The mother of the victim appealed to President Magufuli at public rally held at Ruanda Nzevwa grounds in Mbeya city, on Friday, April 26, for help regarding her defiled child. She claimed that her child is yet to get justice four years after the defilement took place. It could not be established whether the child was a boy or a girl.
"After my child was defiled, I reported the matter to Police who put me under custody, instead, for no apparent reason," said the mother.
President Magufuli ordered the Police to protect her.
