The ban might be heavy but may be the singer gave the authorities the ammunitions they needed with the tone of her defence which is devoid of remorse. This was not the first time that Shilole was involved in a nudity-related performance which makes her a serial offender.
Last week the National Arts Council (Basata) slapped a ban on Bongo Flava artiste Shilole for what they called an inappropriate behaviour while on a tour in Belgium in May.
The council has therefore, imposed a one-year ban on the singer which means she can no longer perform locally or internationally. We all know that artistes today earn their living from the live performances and this lengthy ban therefore spells hard times for the former actress.
Many have expressed dismay that the punishment was rather harsh because it directly affects the artiste’s livelihood.
But before jumping to conclusions on how harsh or not the punishment was, the reasons that Shilole has put forward in her defence are rather flimsy. The ban might be heavy but may be the singer gave the authorities the ammunitions they needed with the tone of her defence which is devoid of remorse. This was not the first time that Shilole was involved in a nudity-related performance which makes her a serial offender.
In 2013 she was warned for a similar offence and though she maintains her innocence, the argument she is trying to put forward might not win her many sympathisers.
