Dar e Salaam. Simba Sports Club’s journey in the 2024/2025 CRDB Federation Cup has come to a dramatic end following a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Singida Black Stars in a thrilling semifinal clash held today, May 31, 2025, at the Tanzanite Kwaraa Stadium in Manyara Region.

Singida Black Stars were in scintillating form, outclassing the Reds from Msimbazi with a commanding performance that has now earned them a place in the final, where they will face arch-rivals Young Africans (Yanga) on June 22, 2025.

The venue for the final is expected to be announced after the conclusion of the Mainland Tanzania Premier League season.

It was Ghanaian forward Jonathan Sowah who opened the scoring for Singida Black Stars in the 16th minute with a clinical finish that sent their fans into a frenzy.

The momentum continued when fellow Ghanaian, Emmanuel Kwame, doubled the lead in the 34th minute after exploiting a defensive lapse.

Just three minutes into the second half, Kwame struck again, this time with a composed effort that beat Simba’s goalkeeper, sealing his brace and effectively crushing Simba’s hopes of a comeback.

Simba managed to pull one back through Jean Ahoua in the 68th minute, but it proved to be only a consolation as Singida’s defense remained resolute until the final whistle.

Speaking after the match, Simba head coach Fadlu Davids attributed the defeat to fatigue, pointing out that his team had played several tough matches in a span of just six days, involving extensive travel.

"My players have been tired due to the series of tough matches in the tight fixture. Despite the fact that they were tired, we managed to create scoring chances but failed to utilize them. It is part of the game. We also allowed Singida Black Stars to score goals after making mistakes," said Davids.

On the other hand, Singida Black Stars' head coach, David Ouma, was full of praise for his players and the match officials. He lauded his team’s determination and tactical execution, which he said were key to the victory.

"I said before, we lost in Dar es Salaam, but we were going to win in Manyara — the score speaks for itself. I commend my players for the best show. They followed instructions and delivered,” said Ouma.

Ouma also took the opportunity to highlight the long-term vision of the club, stating that Singida Black Stars are working on a solid project aimed at making the club one of the best in Tanzania.

With this emphatic victory, Singida Black Stars have not only secured a historic place in the final but also sent a strong message that they are a team to be reckoned with in Tanzanian football.

The stage is now set for a mouth-watering final against Yanga — a clash that promises fireworks.
