Dar es Salaam. Young Africans (Yanga SC) are one step away from defending their CRDB Federation Cup title after sealing a 2-0 win over JKT Tanzania in the semifinal match played at the Mkwakwani Stadium today, may 18, 2025.
Goals from Zimbabwean striker Prince Dube in the 41st minute and midfielder Mudathir Yahya in the 90th minute were enough to send the Jangwani giants into the final of the prestigious domestic competition for a fifth consecutive time.
Yanga have won the title four times in their previous five appearances, underlining their dominance in Tanzanian football.
Dube opened the scoring with a powerful shot after capitalizing on a rebound from a goalmouth scramble, giving JKT Tanzania goalkeeper Yakub Suleiman no chance.
Yahya sealed the victory in the dying minutes of the game, calmly slotting home after a brilliant assist from Zambian playmaker Clatous Chama.
Despite the loss, JKT Tanzania showed resilience and made several attacking attempts, but Yanga’s well-organized defence, marshalled by captain Bakari Mwamnyeto, stood firm to thwart all threats.
The victory ensures Yanga’s place in the final, where they will face the winner of the upcoming semifinal clash between Simba SC and Singida Black Stars.
That match is scheduled for May 31 at the Tanzanite Kwaraa Stadium in Manyara Region.
Yanga’s head coach Miloud Hamdi praised his players for their discipline and determination throughout the match, highlighting the importance of reaching another final. “It was not an easy game. JKT Tanzania were tough opponents, but we stayed focused and made our chances count,” Hamdi said.
With the final set to be played next month, Yanga now have an opportunity to defend their crown and further cement their legacy in the tournament's history.
As fans eagerly await the outcome of the second semifinal, one thing is certain—Yanga’s hunger for silverware remains as strong as ever.
