Unguja. A new landmark attraction has officially opened its doors in Stone Town with the completion of the Africa House Garden by Infinity Developments.
The $1.5 million project, which features a modern landscaped garden and a jetty overlooking the Indian Ocean, is expected to transform both the beauty of Zanzibar’s historic capital and the way tourists experience the island.
The Africa House Garden, located adjacent to the iconic Africa House Hotel, blends leisure, heritage, and modern design. The space will offer visitors panoramic views of the ocean, a landscaped garden for relaxation, and direct access to the water through its newly constructed jetty.
Others include restaurants, food stands, play area and boat services to the surrounding islets that surround Unguja.
The official opening ceremony was held on Monday, graced by President Hussein Mwinyi, who commended the initiative as a boost to Zanzibar’s growing tourism sector.
According to Infinity Developments, the garden is designed not only as a hospitality extension but also as a public-facing space that reimagines how visitors interact with Stone Town’s seafront.
“We believe Africa House Garden will become a defining feature of Stone Town, complementing its cultural heritage with a modern, world-class attraction,” the company said in a statement.

Tourism experts say the new development could have a lasting impact on Zanzibar’s visitor experience. The jetty is expected to open new possibilities for tourist mobility, including boat transfers, sunset cruises, and easy access to marine excursions directly from the heart of Stone Town.
This is likely to ease movement for visitors while adding a new layer of luxury to Zanzibar’s reputation as a leading Indian Ocean destination.
Local business leaders have also welcomed the project, saying it adds value to Zanzibar’s positioning as a cultural and leisure hub.
“Stone Town has always been about history and charm. With Africa House Garden, we are seeing an integration of beauty, convenience, and functionality that can only strengthen Zanzibar’s tourism future,” said one stakeholder in the hospitality industry.
The garden, which is the second to be constructed by Infinity on the island, is also expected to become a venue for cultural and social events, blending seamlessly into Stone Town’s vibrant lifestyle.
Sunset views over the ocean, framed by the landscaped space, are anticipated to become one of the most photographed scenes in Zanzibar, further cementing the island’s global appeal.
With the official opening, residents and tourism stakeholders are keen to see how Africa House Garden will shape the narrative of Stone Town—not just as a place of history, but also as a city embracing a modern tourism identity.
